I get the chance to interact with so many dentists on social media and let me be real for a second: so many of them neglect their branding or just straight up don’t think dental branding is that important.
Look, I get it. We’re so busy and branding and marketing recommendations change ALL THE TIME. How are we supposed to keep tabs on the latest social media trends and still run a successful practice?
I’ve been trying to solve this problem for dentists for a while now by offering easy-to-digest tools, workshops, courses and bundles that are all designed to elevate a practice’s brand without requiring a bunch of legwork and extra time. I understand being busy (I run a practice myself so I get it, I really do) but I still believe that knowing what to do (and what not to do) will really help your practice stay competitive online.
I see so many practices just posting on Facebook every once in a while, hoping that people will see their posts. On Facebook (and now Instagram), if you’re not boosting your posts or consistently posting on a fairly regular schedule, very few people will see your posts… and this will get even more challenging every time the algorithm changes.
Social media is becoming more “pay to play” than ever before, which means we have to have a strong brand that is recognizable immediately (be consistent with your brand colors, fonts, and use that logo everywhere!) and you have to post every day in order to prove to the algorithms that you are an account with a lot of good content to share.
Dental branding can be a lot of fun, but it does require some time investment on a consistent basis. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming though. I am a big believer in batching out content and scheduling it ahead of time using tools like Planoly and Hootsuite.
No time for that? No worries. You can always outsource your dental branding to a front office team member that you trust. If you have younger people working in your practice, there’s a good chance they know a lot about social media and branding and will happily take over the task for you.
At the end of the day, the effort that comes with building a strong dental brand is well worth it if you have a full calendar and lots of patients raving about your practice to their friends and family! I believe that social media, when used well, has the power to elevate our practices beyond our wildest dreams!
